The Friends of North Wirral Coastal Park want your Christmas Trees!

We know you’ve only just put your tree up, (or perhaps you’re still waiting to!), but please make a note that after the festive period, donations of your used real Christmas trees are invited as part of a project to stablise Wirral’s coastal sand dunes.

The Christmas tree recycling project at North Wirral Coastal Park helps reverse natural erosion of sand dunes at North Wirral Coastal Park.

The dunes are a valuable habitat that support a range of vulnerable species including common lizard and rare mining bees, and your old Christmas tree can help rangers and Friends of North Wirral Coastal Park safeguard this important habitat.

All you have to do is remove all the decorations from your real tree, and take it along to Christmas tree drop off points at Leasowe Lighthouse car park, Lingham Lane; The Gunsite car park, Green Lane, Wallasey; also Wallasey Central Park car park, Liscard Road, Wallasey, from January 1 – January 31, 2018.

The trees will be used to trap and stabilise sand, reversing erosion. For more info about the Friends of North Wirral Coastal Park, see here.

Remember: No artificial trees, no tinsel, no decorations, no lights. Just the tree!
