A local theatre group are about to take two productions out on a Summer Tour.
Off The Ground Theatre, based in West Kirby, has been hard at work on a production of The Musketeers and a Youth Theatre production of Lord Of The Flies.
The theatre group believes in giving as many people as possible the opportunity to partake in theatre – aiming to provide training to those who wish to expand their skill-base, employment to those embarking on a career, and a fine evening’s entertainment to those who just want a night out.
The production of The Musketeers will take in Claremont Farm, Meols, Royden Park, Burton Manor and other venues across the North West and Wales before heading off to The Republic Of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, Off The Ground Youth Theatre’s production of Lord Of The Flies will be performed from 2nd – 4th July at Royden Park.
The Youth Theatre was formed in 1996 and is an absolutely vital part of the company. Students have the opportunity to study with working professionals and to take part in professional-level productions. It is the only youth theatre in the region to offer such a wide range of on-stage, back-stage and film experience.
Older members of the youth theatre are also encouraged to audition for Off The Ground’s touring productions, and many have had their first professional job with Off The Ground.
As well as running the youth theatre, Off The Ground also works with schools, community groups and theatre companies throughout the Northwest, North Wales and the Republic of Ireland. It also devises and performs workshops in the UK and abroad, runs INSET training, as well as delivering a comprehensive schools’ workshop programme.
