The first ever Love New Brighton Parade takes place this Sunday, 12th July, with the theme, ‘A Little Bit of Rio Comes to New Brighton’.
The parade will start at the Tower Grounds at 12 noon. Then progress up Victoria Road, along Rowson Street and Marine Point, before returning back along the promenade to the Tower Grounds.
The parade will be led by Wirral Samba Band with the newly formed New Brighton Samba Group in support, as well as the children of New Brighton and Mount Primary Schools, who’ve been learning about samba.
The parade will include the Black Pearl Pirates, The New Brighteners, Showrunners Street Dancers, New Brighton Sea Cadets, Multivox and many more.
Councillor Pat Hackett, Cabinet Member for the Economy, says the parade cements the role of the regenerated New Brighton as a fantastic community and tourism asset, and says the resort is preparing to welcome visitors from all over Wirral and the City Region for the event.
Councillor Hackett added, ‘I would like to pay tribute to everyone involved in the event, particularly New Brighton Community Centre and The Brightside Trust, who, with the support of local schools, businesses, traders, residents, artists and Wirral Council, have been busy working together to organise the event.’
