We are delighted to announce that July 16th 2016 sees the meeting of two of Wirral’s finest summer arts events: Love New Brighton Parade and the Astral Coast Festival. With the intention of emphasising the strong community spirit of the Wirral, we will be reclaiming the streets of New Brighton for the day with an exciting Parade running through the town towards our main stage which overlooks the visually gripping coastline at the Marine Point.
After its HUGE success last summer, we are thrilled to bring you Love New Brighton Parade again this year and with your help it’s going to be bigger, better, brighter and more colourful than ever with this year’s Astral Coast Festival, resulting in a big day out covering large areas of the town. The Parade is the product of Love New Brighton and is a fantastic new partnership between New Brighton Community Centre, Brightside Young People’s Project, Wallasey Youth Hub with the support of local schools, community organisations, businesses, traders, residents and local artists and also Wirral Council. It is the very first event of its kind and this year we are keen to involve as many local groups and individuals from around New Brighton and the wider Wallasey area as we can! So if you are a local group and want to be part of this year’s event get in touch and get involved! This year the theme is ‘Sun,sun, sun here it comes!!’ Once again we hope to have Wirral Samba Band and other local Samba Bands and marching bands of every musical genre taking part as well as street dancers, stilt walkers and many more.
Now in its fifth year, Astral Coast is the focal point of the musical year of The Open Door Centre, taking the discussion of Depression, Anxiety and Mental Health in general outside of the medical, clinical world and into people’s lives via the world of music, the arts and creativity. It has quickly established itself as the premiere new music festival on Wirral. Bringing together the region’s most exciting emerging artists with established Merseyside headliners, Astral Coast offers a unique day of live music, with previous performers including XL recordings, Domino and Deltasonic recording artists alongside MOBO award winners and NME favourites.
Showcasing some of Merseyside’s most exciting up and coming acts, this year sees us building upon our previous years which have been critically lauded by music lovers and press alike. Enveloping the whole of Marine Point for the day, with art exhibitions, interactive stalls, food, drink and as ever the very best new music around.
This unmissable day out will see the streets of New Brighton brought to a new lease of life, lined with colour and sound. Showcasing more of the local talent that surrounds us, we will fill the town with dancers and musicians performers and local community groups and we’re encouraging everyone to get involved.
