Petplan Charitable Trust was formed in 1994 by Patsy Bloom and David Simpson to provide much needed funds to promote the health and welfare of animals. Whenever pet owners take out or renew their policy with Petplan, they are given the option of making a small annual donation to help fund this work. To date, through the generosity of our donors, the Trust has given over £8,000,000 in grants. Welfare grants are awarded once a year.  The 2015 grant programme is now open.  Please click on the link to access the application form.  The closing date for applications is Friday 4 December 2015.  All applications which meet the criteria set out by the Trust are forwarded to the Welfare Committee for consideration.  The Welfare Committee then makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees and applicants will be informed of the Trustees’ decision after the next Trustees’ meeting (usually in February or March each year).
To see if your charity is eligible to apply for a grant from the Charitable Trust please check the terms and conditions.

UK Youth and Starbucks Coffee Company are delighted to announce the launch of its 2015 Starbucks Youth Action programme. Are you working with young people aged 16 – 24 who are not in education or employment? Would you like to support them to run a social action programme with funding of up to £1000, with an additional contribution for youth workers support time? Then we would like to invite you to apply to Starbucks Youth Action?  To apply, two young people need to lead the project and engage a further 50 young people throughout the course of the project. The young people will need to be aged between 16 and 24 and need to have a youth worker / training organisation able to support them throughout the project.  We are looking for projects that provide a positive benefit to the local community and that look to enhance the young leaders employability and leadership skills.  To support young people through their project they will be given access to a specially designed App which can be download in order to keep track of their project milestones and achievements while supporting them with the planning and delivery of their social action project. All workers supporting young people will receive a copy of our employability toolkit to run through employment ready sessions and the QCF Unit Leadership pack, which will provide activities and recording documents for the young person to complete to gain their QCF unit in Leadership. In addition, young people will have access to job and apprenticeship vacancies within the Starbucks Coffee Chain.  The programme is primarily focused on young people not in education or employment although strong applications from other applicants will be considered.  This is a rolling programme until March 2016. Applications are open now with the first round of funding being considered on 3rd August and monthly from thereon.

Impact Readiness Fund – Grants available to help ambitious social ventures manage their performance and increase their social impact to attract social investment and win contracts.
Social investors and commissioners are interested in the social impact ventures achieve, but demonstrating this impact can be difficult. Many social ventures struggle to quantify their achievements without the right systems and expertise. This fund offers grants and support to social ventures to understand and improve their social impact and demonstrate improvements to investors and commissioners.  Grants between £25,000 and £100,000 will be available to help ventures build infrastructure and skills required to manage their performance, increase their social impact, and attract social investment / win contracts.  The deadline for applications to this fund is midday 8 January 2016.

The Movember Foundation and beyondblue are proud to challenge the creative and forward thinking people of Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom to propose innovative, outside the box concepts that could lead to gamechanging products or services and increase levels of social connections and feelings of belongingness for men.  Social connections refer to any or all relationships that a man has, it could be a friend, family member, partner, colleague, etc. When we talk about improving social connections, we refer primarily to quality but also the quantity, of those connections.  Using funds raised through the 2014 Movember campaign and from beyondblue through past Movember donations, AUD $5.6m is being invested over the next 2.5 years to support a multi-phased innovation program across three countries (Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom) that looks to move ideas from inspiration to testing to expansion (nationally or internationally).  People who are satisfied with their relationships and social connections are more likely to experience good mental health and wellbeing in general.   A reduction in the quality of social connections can significantly impact on the health of men leading to social isolation and loneliness which have been identified as risk factors for suicide, depression and anxiety. Many men do not have good social connections.  Forming strong, lasting and meaningful relationships – needed when things get tough – can be especially challenging, particularly in cultures where emotional openness and vulnerability are seen as a weakness, are discouraged, and are often conditioned out of boys during childhood. This makes it difficult to talk about and navigate through significant life events like relationship changes, workplace transitions – including unemployment – or a fatherhood journey. Project ideas should provide new solutions or fresh approaches to generating, prototyping/testing and scaling initiatives that have potential to restore and strengthen the social connections of men.  Projects need to be grounded in the real world, be developed from the male perspective and must be co-developed with men.  Deadline for Inspiration Statement Submission      Wednesday December 9, 2015 – 5:00 pm (EST)  Please check out the background document for information on the research behind this program, specific details you will need to know about participating including eligibility criteria and what we won’t fund, Phase 2 of the Application Process and Phase 3 Scaling. Please select the document that refers to the country from which you will be applying
