Western Link Public Information Events Announced

National Grid and ScottishPower Transmission are inviting people to come and find out what to expect as activity increases to install a 30km high voltage underground electricity cable across the Wirral peninsula.

In addition to the electricity cable, a new electricity converter station will be built on Deeside Industrial Park. They are needed as part of the Western Link – a joint venture between the two companies to help bring renewable energy from Scotland to homes and businesses in England and Wales.

To let people know what to expect, a newsletter has been sent to people along the cable route and close to the converter station to let them know about forthcoming public information events.

Graham Edwards, Western Link Project Director, encouraged people to attend the events, saying “Our main work takes place during the spring, summer and autumn months and people are likely to see a lot of activity this year from April onwards. I’d encourage anyone interested to come and talk to our project team at the open events about this essential project.”

The events are as follows:

Wednesday 29th April, 1-7pm
Heswall United Reformed Church, 199 Telegraph Road, Heswall, CH60 7SE

Thursday 30th April, 1-7pm
The Gladstone Village Hall, Burton, Neston, CH64 5TH
