The Nominet Trust Social Tech Seed grant-funding programme offers early-stage investment (typically between £15,000 and £50,000) to entrepreneurs and charitable organisations looking to develop new projects that demonstrate the potential of digital technology to tackle social issues. The Social Tech Seed also offers a package of non-financial business support (e.g. mentoring, marketing and comms advice, networking opportunities), and access to a discretionary fund of up to £5,000 should specific expertise be needed to support their early-stage development. The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust is interested in removing problems through radical solutions where the grant has a good chance of making a difference. They welcome applications for funds in one or more of the following five categories: Peace and Security, Power and Accountability, Rights and Justice, Sustainable Future, Northern Ireland. The Trust supports those based in the UK undertaking work at a national level which is defined in UK law as legally charitable. However, applicants need not be a registered charity. Lloyds Banking Group’s Credit Union Development Fund aims to increase colleague participation in – and the impact of – its community programmes. The funding programme has been designed to strengthen the financial position of credit unions that can demonstrate commitment to – and involvement with – their community. All credit unions authorised to operate in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can apply for 1 of 2 awards: Large awards of between £50,000 and £100,000 to help remove barriers to growth and innovation; Seed funding awards of between £10,000 and £20,000 to help make changes credit unions need in order to apply for a large award in a subsequent year or, in certain circumstances, to pay for the costs of merger.
