The Third Health Programme Call for Projects is now open to applications for 2016.

The Third Health Programme aims to support and complement the work of EU Member States to achieve the following four objectives:

  • Promote health, prevent diseases and foster supportive environments for healthy lifestyles taking into account the ‘health in all policies’ principle.
  • Protect EU citizens from serious cross-border health threats.
  • Contribute to innovative, efficient and sustainable health systems.
  • Facilitate access to better and safer healthcare for EU citizens.

The following topics are open under the 2016 Call for Proposals:

  • Migrants’ health: Best practices in care provision for vulnerable migrants and refugees – budget: €4.5 million.
    Supporing activities in view of the development of community-based care models to improve health care access of vulnerable migrants and refugees.
  • Gathering knowledge and exchanging best practices on measures reducing underage drinking and heavy episodic drinking – budget: €1.2 million.
    Supporting Member States’ efforts to reduce alcohol related harm and particularly contribute to the objectives of the Member States’ action plan on Youth Drinking and on Heavy Episodic Drinking.
  • Gathering knowledge and exchanging best practises to on measures to prevent illicit drug use in line with the minimum quality standards in drug demand reduction – budget: €600,000.
    Preventing and delay the age of onset of illicit drug use, thus supporting the EU Action Plan on Drugs and the implementation of the minimum quality standard in drug demand reduction.
  • Support to Member States and stakeholders to address the chronic disease challenge – budget: €2.5 million.
    Identifying and addressing key elements with a potential to reduce the burden of major chronic diseases and increase the sustainability of health systems.
  • Donor selection and protection – budget: €550,000.
    Increasing the safety of donation and clinical application of tissues and cells and/or blood by optimising the procedures for donor selection and protection.

The deadline for applications to the 2016 Call for Projects is 2 June 2016.
