The Wirral Globe is once again offering charities in the area the chance to apply for a Gannett Foundation Award, with in excess of £10,000 on offer.
The Gannett Foundation is the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc., the parent company of Newsquest Media Group, one of the UK’s largest publishers and owners of the Wirral Globe. We provide funding to registered charities in the areas where we operate local newspapers and websites. We support those registered charities with projects which take a creative approach to fundamental issues such as neighbourhood improvements, local problem-solving, economic development, youth enterprise, assistance to disadvantaged or disabled people, care of the elderly, environmental conservation and educational or cultural enrichment. We value projects that bring lasting benefits to communities served by our local newspapers and websites. While preference may be given to ideas which create a durable legacy for the community, we will consider single events or projects of limited duration that otherwise meet our criteria. We entertain applications of any size or ambition. Typically our grants are modest sums for practical projects, but we frequently award sums of £10,000 or more to larger projects which deserve our backing. We are able to join with other contributors to support elements of larger projects, though we prefer to be in a position of making a donation which will fund a project entirely or which constitutes the final instalment to complete a project. Decisions about funding will be made by trustees based on the evidence submitted. The Foundation will favour projects that demonstrate good planning, oversight and financial responsibility. As a prerequisite, the submission of copies of the charity’s most recent financial accounts are required. In addition, any supporting materials and further details concerning the overall aims of the charity should be included with each submission. Each nomination will be judged on its own merit at the absolute discretion of the trustees, whose decision is final. Applications must arrive by 5pm on Friday, October 16, 2015. Building Better Opportunities – Big Lottery have published 61 new funding opportunities in 18 LEP areas. This is the second round of Building Better Opportunities projects to be opened for stage one applications. The first round was launched earlier this year and is now closed to new applications. Over the next few years funding will be delivered in 38 Local Enterprise Partnership areas supporting projects that tackle poverty and promote social inclusion.

New LCVS Community Impact Fund Launched – Our Community Impact Fund helps voluntary sector organisations and registered charities do even more to build stronger communities across Liverpool and Merseyside. Over the next two years, LCVS will be investing up to £300k to help local organisations develop and deliver projects to help those most in need on Merseyside. For 2015/16, we have £100k to support the Community Impact Fund and we will run another round in 2016/17. We will also be using some of our funds to deliver a small number of more strategic commissioned projects in 2016. Eligible organisations can apply for grants of up to £3,000 for projects that meet one of our three priority areas: Health, Income Stability and Education. Applications will be assessed on the impact that the project will have on the lives of those who benefit. We’re looking for projects that help make a change for those most in need. Granada Foundation Grants Programme (North West) The Granada Foundation has announced that the next closing date for applications is the 12th November 2015. Through its grants programme, the Foundation wishes to encourage and promote the study, practice and appreciation of the fine arts, including drawing, architecture and landscape architecture, sculpture, literature, music, opera, drama, cinema, and the methods and means of their dissemination. The Foundation also welcomes applications which aim to engage and inspire young people and adults to take an interest in science. Projects supported in the past include:
A grant of £2,000 to “Chester Performs” towards creation of a new youth theatre company. A grant of £2,000 to the Liverpool Carnival Company towards its 2011 Samba Festival. The Advisory Council meets three times a year at regular intervals to consider applications. ACT Foundation gives large and small donations to charities depending on the project and available funds. Enhancing the Quality of Life for People in Need, We accept applications from people in poverty who have a physical and/or mental disability or are aged. Our current focus is on transformational change and larger grants (in excess of £100K) will be the exception. You can apply for a grant at any time and for any amount however at the time of sending your application to us, you must confirm your acceptance of our Grant Terms & Conditions by signing at the bottom of the page and enclosing a copy with your application.
