Youth Recruitment to Fairness and Social Justice Advisory Board

Are you aged 16-25, passionate about fairness and social justice and resident in the Liverpool City Region? If so, we want to hear from you!  We’re looking to recruit three new young members to the Liverpool City Region’s Fairness and Social Justice Advisory Board (FASJAB)

What is FASJAB?

The Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, Steve Rotherham, set up FASJAB in 2017.

We want to develop the fairest, most socially-inclusive economy in the U.K, and the purpose of FASJAB is to help us achieve this. It is made up of 24 people from a huge range of backgrounds who act as a sounding board for the Mayor, giving him honest feedback about his policies and plans so that they are fair for all.

What would being a member of FASJAB involve?

You must be aged between 16 and 25 and commit to being a member of the group for one year. FASJAB meets monthly (via Zoom at the moment).

At these meetings, you would be asked to provide input from a young person’s perspective on the decisions that the Mayor is taking.

It’s hugely important too that members contribute not just from a personal perspective but from the point of view of your peer group/communities you belong to. You may be speaking from the perspective of your local community, your gender or be providing a voice for any other sector of society that you belong to.

The work of FASJAB is based on real evidence, so you would be expected to come prepared for meetings.

Do you get paid for being a member of FASJAB?

No, being a member is voluntary but you can claim for reasonable expenses.

How can I apply?

Please return the attached application form Monday 28th September 2020.
