Local Offer Youth Participation Group
We need dedicated groups of Wirral wide young people up to the age of 25, with a variety of additional needs and disabilities, to develop the Local Offer and feedback on the impact of the wider SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) reforms. This work will help inform the work of strategic groups and boards to ensure Wirral’s services are shaped around the views of the young people.
These views will include how well children and young people understand their needs, how involved they are in setting targets for their own progress and do they feel that they have co-ownership of both the process and the decisions that affect how their needs are met.
We are currently gathering the views of young people about the best ways of participating. A Facebook group, a forum, group meetings, virtual group meetings and using existing school and college councils are suggestions we have received so far.
We need to hear from young people themselves and I am currently meeting with different groups listening to what they have to say. It is important that we include the views of 16 – 25 year olds and I am keen to hear from organisations that can support with this.
If you work with young people that would like to get involved please email [email protected] and I will come out at their earliest convenience and meet them.
