Workshops – Health & Safety and COVID-19

VOLA are working in collaboration with DTD Training to deliver two workshops around Health & Safety, one aimed at Further Education providers and the other for Community providers.

Each workshop will run for approximately 1.5 hours with an additional hour at the end of the presentations for specific Q&A’s and advice from Tudor Williams from DTD Training, the Health and Safety expert.

Both workshops will be presented via Zoom.

Workshop 1 (primarily FE providers) – Wednesday 4th November 10.00 am

  1. Overview of organisational health and safety – what are the basic legal requirements and components that every organisation should have in place.
  2. Arrangements and procedures for safe working – what are the core arrangements and procedures that should be in place.
  3. Risk assessments – what are the basic requirements of a risk assessment (process), who is responsible for undertaking them, how are they managed and what makes them effective.
  4. COVID -19 – What are the continuing core responsibilities on providers for employee and learner safety, managing and reducing risk.
  5. Work placements/employer assessment and learner safety – What are the basic legal and regulatory requirements for apprentices and work placements as well as a look at what best practice looks like.

Workshop 2 (community providers) – Wednesday 4th November 2.00 pm

  1. Overview of organisational health and safety – what are the basic legal requirements and components that every organisation should have in place.
  2. Arrangements and procedures for safe working –what are the core arrangements and procedures that should be in place.
  3. Risk assessments – what are the basic requirements of a risk assessment (process), who is responsible for undertaking them, how are they managed and what makes them effective.
  4. COVID -19 – What are the continuing core responsibilities on providers for employee and learner safety, managing and reducing risk.
  5. 3rd party locations/community working – A look at responsibilities regarding safety when working away from the office/work-base including venue hire/use, lone/remote working.
