We have received funds from the Tampon Tax Fund to provide seed and replication funding to projects which enable women on low incomes to access new skills, training, confidence building and employment opportunities. Tampon Tax funding is matched with Smallwood Trust funding. The impact goal of the Fund is to:
Build the skills, confidence and aspirations of women on low incomes to enable them to enter into employment.
The funding will be awarded in two distinct strands as follows.
Seed funding for new ideas
Funding will be allocated to community-based groups to seed fund imaginative and new ideas which help break down barriers and improve confidence and skills for women seeking employment. Successful projects can subsequently apply for additional funding from the replication strand (see below).
Replication funding for promising projects
Funding will be allocated to replication projects that can evidence that a previous pilot project or idea has promising impact and the potential to scale up regionally or nationally. This funding will be used to further test innovative approaches in new geographical areas or expand an existing project to reach more beneficiaries.
Who is it for?
In this next round we are accepting applications for seed funding from charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations. We will prioritise applications from women-led organisations located in the East and West Midlands and coastal areas in the north of England. We expect to award 10-15 grants in this next round.
How much can I apply for?
Average grant size: £5,000 to £10,000 for projects receiving seed funding.
Am I Eligible?
The programme is open to charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations that:
- Have a clear mission and project that is aligned to helping women become financially resilient
- Are well managed with clear governance structures
- Have robust financial procedures in place and are a going concern
- Are working with other local agencies and partners
- Provide venues and services which are open and accessible
- Are led by experienced trustees, staff and volunteers
- Have appropriate safeguarding measures and policies in place
