Paintings by members of Wirral MIND are on display in an exhibition about the dangers of Loan Sharks at The Williamson Art Gallery.
An estimated 310,000 household across the country are in debt to illegal money lenders, also known as Loan Sharks. These criminals exploit vulnerable borrowers, often resorting to extreme methods to enforce repayment.
The England Illegal Money Lending Team is a national enforcement team cracking down on loan sharks. As part of their ongoing awareness raising they are working with Wirral Council, Wirral MIND and Wirral Trading Standards to highlight the dangers of loan sharks through the medium of art to the people of the Wirral.
As a result, Wirral MIND members have produced paintings focusing on their thoughts and fears about the dangers of loan sharks and how illegal money lending can devastate people’s minds and lives.
The work is on display at The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum until 26th July.
