Local charitable company, Wiser Solutions, is hosting a Wartime Christmas Afternoon Tea for local elderly residents. The event is part of a series of social awareness events running throughout 2017 to combat loneliness through the British past time of Afternoon Tea.
VintAGE Events is an initiative launched by Wiser Solutions, a social enterprise based in Birkenhead, providing the local community with skill development and involvement in social projects from 2008. The event comes at a time where studies show loneliness among the elderly is more common than ever. VintAGE aims to provide an event, which brings members of the elderly community together in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to enjoy festivities.
Jim Barrington, CEO of Wiser Solutions says: “This is a very exciting and informal way to bring people together in a fun and memorable environment. It’s reassuring to see all tickets were sold in a couple of days, highlighting the very serious issue of loneliness and which is all too often hidden from view.”
