Vote For The Williamson!

The Williamson Art Gallery and Museum is asking for your help to host a major exhibition in October working with internationally renowned artists, Davy and Kristin McGuire.

The Williamson have had their bid short-listed in a competition to work with the McGuires, and it is now open to an online public vote. However, you’ll have to be quick as voting ends at 8pm on Saturday 16th May!

The announcement for the winning venue will be made at 9pm on the 16th and, hopefully, The Williamson will then be able to use the McGuire’s marble statues, ‘Pauline’ and ‘Love’, to create a series of grottos as part of the Museums At Night festival in October.

The festival is co-ordinated by Culture24 – a non-profit, cultural publishing, organisation – and is an opportunity for the cultural and heritage sector to come together around a single, simple campaign that is attractive to venues, audiences and the media.

The Williamson’s objective is to use the statues with projections, lighting, textures, sound and print, to transform the gallery into an enchanted garden animating a narrative imagined and developed with staff and visitors.

As well as the month long exhibition, the Williamson team and Friends of the Williamson hope to create a special ticketed gala evening around the theme of the McGuire’s artwork that will be as successful as their BAFTA gala held earlier this year.
