Volunteering Week – Volunteering Opportunities (Day 4)

As part of Volunteering Week, Community Action Wirral’s Volunteering Team have searched high and low for all the volunteering opportunities they can find in the Wirral.

We will be publishing these in batches of 9-10 opportunities every day this week. So do make sure you check the website every day so you don’t miss any!

Name Of Organisation: The Reader Organisation
Opportunity Title: Care Home Reader
Opportunity Description: Paired with another volunteer, you will be responsible for delivering a shared reading session in a care setting – care home, day centre or sheltered housing –  on a weekly basis within Liverpool and the Wirral.
When Required: Monday – Friday, mornings and afternoons

Name Of Organisation: The Reader Organisation
Opportunity Title: Reading Friend
Opportunity Description: Making a weekly visit to someone in their own home to read aloud with them, one to one. The role shall be in Liverpool and Wirral, based on where the person lives.
When Required: Monday – Sunday mornings, afternoons and evenings

Name Of Organisation: The Reader Organisation
Opportunity Title: Administration Assistant
Opportunity Description: To provide admin support to the office staff. Duties include filing and photocopying short stories and poetry, information management (e.g. inputting onto database), helping with administration for one-off events run by The Reader Organisation along with helping with the administration for the Volunteer Reader Scheme.
When Required: Monday – Friday, mornings and afternoons

Name Of Organisation: Church Road Neighbourhood Resource Centre
Opportunity Title: Community Volunteer
Opportunity Description: Friendly and polite people required to join a happy team of volunteers to help the centre grow and develop. They will help the volunteer team answer the phone and speak to people who call into the Resource Centre. The centre has a welcoming reception area, with a reception desk and their own office, tea and biscuits!
When Required: Monday – Sunday mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Name Of Organisation: Sova
Opportunity Title: Volunteering Mentoring
Opportunity Description: Sova, a charity with over 35 years experience of utilising volunteers to support others, is looking to expand it’s national network of volunteers to work alongside the new Community Rehabilitation Centres (CRCs), previously known as local probation offices, to provide mentoring support to people in prison and the community. They will provide full training in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, plus the opportunity to gain an accreditation. They will also ensure you are fully reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses.
When Required: Monday – Friday, mornings and afternoons.

Name Of Organisation: Wirral Autistic Society
Opportunity Title: Outdoor Tasks & Conservation Volunteers
Opportunity Description: If you wish to meet new friends, develop Port Sunlight River Park and see the fruits of your labour then please join Wirral Autistic Society. You’ll also see amazing views of Wirral and the Mersey estuary. They are looking to recruit a small team of volunteers for the project who will work with the Ranger. Tasks include gardening, pruning, litter picking, cutting back vegetation, clearing leaves, planting, moving stones and debris, and patrolling amongst other tasks. Work will vary during the seasons.
When Required: Wednesday and Saturday, mornings and afternoons.

Name Of Organisation: WIRED
Opportunity Title: Administration
Opportunity Description: Volunteers help to ensure the smooth running of the offices and are often the first point of call for new clients who call. This role provides variation as you get the opportunity to support many of the services.
When Required: Monday – Friday, mornings and afternoons.

Name Of Organisation: WIRED
Opportunity Title: Carer Support Services
Opportunity Description: Volunteers support people who care for someone who couldn’t manage without them. This role is varied with volunteers having the opportunity to get involved at a level that suits them from meeting and greeting at drop-in sessions, supporting activities and events, providing information on services through to providing carer awareness training.
When Required: Monday – Friday, mornings and afternoons.

Name Of Organisation: WIRED
Opportunity Title: Shopmobility Volunteer
Opportunity Description: Shopmobility enables volunteers to help people with mobility impairments to borrow a scooter or electric wheelchair so they can get out and about independently. This rewarding role enables volunteers to meet lots of people from our Birkenhead and Liscard offices. It is also a volunteer opportunity that is available on a Saturday.
When Required: Monday – Saturday, mornings and afternoons.

Name Of Organisation: WIRED
Opportunity Title: Special Education Needs Information Advice & Support
Opportunity Description: SEND Partnership where you will be supporting parents with children who have Special Educational Needs to access the support available to them. This is an advice role and includes in-depth training to undertake this role but provides a rewarding experience for the committed volunteer. This is based in their Upton office.
When Required: Monday – Friday, mornings and afternoons.
