Vacancy at Action Tutoring – North West Programme Manager

0

Action Tutoring are recruiting for a North West Programme Manager to look after their work in Liverpool, Wirral, Chester and Southport.

At Action Tutoring they believe every child should be given the opportunity to succeed in school. Unfortunately in the UK today young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to achieve the grades they need to progress in life. This isn’t because they are any less able but they have less access to the tools to support them to reach their potential.

This isn’t fair. Tutoring is an effective way of improving academic attainment and so they harness the power of volunteer tutors to bridge the gap and ensure this help can be accessed by every pupil who needs it, not just those who can afford it.

They specifically help pupils facing socio-economic disadvantage and who are at risk of leaving primary or secondary school without reaching national standards in their exams, limiting their future opportunities. They work in partnership with schools, in eight cities across the UK, to deliver weekly tutoring, in English or maths, to those pupils who need it the most.

Last year, 61% of secondary school pupils who attended 10 or more Action Tutoring sessions were able to achieve a 4 or above in their English Language GCSE and 58% were able to achieve a 4 or above in maths, both surpassing the national disadvantaged average.

74% of primary pupils supported by Action Tutoring achieved national standards in their Readings SATs and 81% achieved national standards in maths, surpassing the national disadvantaged average in both subjects.
