Wirral Council is seeking to appoint members of the public to the Independent Remuneration Panel (including the appointment of a Chair). The role of the Panel is to periodically review the allowances paid to Councillors and make recommendations to Council on the type and level of allowances paid. The Panel is crucial in providing the impartiality that enables public trust in the allowance system. The Panel must be fair, open and effective.
Wirral Council is looking for people who have:
- knowledge or experience in how local authorities are run;
- knowledge or experience in finance;
- no political affiliations or association with any Councillors or employees of the Council;
- excellent numerical skills;
- the ability to commit to a term of office for up to 4 years.

Chair: £500.00 per annum
Members of the Panel: all reasonable expenses in order to help you fulfil the required duties will be covered.
It is expected that there will be 4-5 meetings between January and March 2020 in the first instance.
The appointment will be confirmed on an annual basis up to a period of 4 years.
