Tomorrow’s Women Wirral won ‘Project of the Year’ at the Wirral Third Sector Business Awards last week.
This was the inaugural year of the event. The awards were developed to celebrate the achievements of local charities, social enterprises and community organisations within the Wirral region.
The awards ceremony took place in the luxurious setting of the Leverhulme Hotel, Port Sunlight. Tomorrow’s Women Wirral were up against Women’s Enterprising Breakthrough and Health Junction in The Project of the Year Award, sponsored by Cherry Tree Shopping Centre, Liscard.
Winning this award builds on Tomorrow’s Women Wirral’s success in being a Community Business Of The Year finalist in the Wirral Business Awards. Executive Director, Angela Murphy, said of the award “To say we’re delighted is an understatement!”.
The women-only centre was launched in September 2011. It was designed to benefit all women aged 18+ in the community with the aim of reducing female imprisonment, offending, and providing assistance to women who want to make positive lifestyle changes.
The centre offers a safe space for women with a full timetable of courses that address women’s needs, including the only female medical walk-in centre in Wirral. Partners include Wirral Met College, CWP NHS, Alcohol and Drug Services, Counselling Services, the Zero Centre, Solicitors, Police, etc.
