The Community Foundation for Merseyside has a number of grants available. The High Sheriff and Merseyside Police Charitable Fund is available for diversionary activities reducing anti-social behaviour of young people. The maximum amount available is £2,500 and the closing date has been extended to Monday 15th June. The ACC Liverpool Foundation fund has a maximum of £2,000 for projects aimed at supporting and targeting children, young people and families, social isolation, education and learning, communities and housing and homelessness. The budget is £4000 and thus the Foundation is looking to fund two significant projects that clearly meet their criteria and can make a significant impact in the community. The fund can be closed at any time and the Community Foundation will be looking to present approximately 6-8 applications to the panel. Heart Research UK, in partnership with SUBWAY®, is offering Healthy Heart Grants of up to £10,000 for new, original and innovative projects that actively promote Heart Health and help to prevent, or reduce, the risk of heart disease in your region. The Santander Foundation has three grants programmes to help disadvantaged people in the UK: (1) Community Plus provides grants of up to £5,000. The scheme is open to small local UK charities or local projects of national charities with funding available to cover salaries, equipment or materials. (2) Learn & Grow offers grants of up to £10,000 to fund activities which help disadvantaged people to improve skills, build confidence or employability. (3) Money Skills offers grants of up to £10,000 to charities and credit unions who want to help disadvantaged people to understand and manage their money. You are welcome to apply to both Community Plus and a grant of over £5,000 from either Learn & Grow or the Money Skills grants programmes, but a grant from one programme will prevent you from getting a grant from the other. Your Housing Group has opened its new round of Community Grants for the Liverpool City Region, including Wirral. Community Grants can be applied for by any groups who wish to organise a community project or event. All projects must benefit Your Housing Group residents but can also benefit the wider community. The Burbo Bank Extension Community Fund supports community and environmental projects along the North Wales and English coast, off the Irish Sea, within a defined area. The DM Thomas Foundation for Young People provides funding for registered charities in the UK and Ireland which work to improve the lives of children and young people across Europe. This month, Localgiving has launched the LocalHero campaign to celebrate all the fantastic fundraisers who raise money on behalf of a local charity. To help give a boost to their efforts, Localgiving will be awarding £5,000 in prizes to the causes supported by the top 20 fundraisers in June. Wirral NHS Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) has published a new Health Profile for Wirral. The profile is designed to help local government and health services understand their community’s needs, so that they can work together to improve people’s health and reduce health inequalities. The new profile reveals that deprivation in Wirral is higher than average and 13,700 children live in poverty. It also reveals that life expectancy for both men and women is lower than the England average. The Children & Young People Now Awards recognise initiatives from the public, private and voluntary sector that work with children and young people from birth to adolescence as well as their families. They present a tremendous showcase of learning and best practice from across the country that can be an inspiration to all. Sage has launched a foundation offering two FREE accountancy products to any charity, as well as grants worth around £5m a year, and five volunteering days from each of its 14,000 employees. The company will launch the new foundation in October. It will operate on what it calls a “2+2+2” basis – donating 2 per cent of employee time, 2 per cent of free cash flow, and two “smart technology” products per charity or social enterprise. The foundation will not itself be a charity, but will distribute money through a charity bank account – where money is donated into an account which attracts charitable tax relief, and then distributed at the donor’s direction.
