Mental health underpins health and wellbeing and impacts everyone. For many people mid-life can be a time of increased challenges, responsibilities and pressures, in their working lives, family lives and relationships. The Bupa UK Foundation is looking to fund projects that aim to support and improve people’s mental health at this critical life-stage. The closing date for applications is Friday 4 September 2015. Funding decisions are expected to be made by the Bupa UK Foundation’s Board of Trustees at meetings in October and December 2015. Creative Local Growth Fund – Arts Council The Creative local growth fund recognises how arts and culture can contribute to local economic growth and will support arts and cultural organisations to contribute to local economic growth by helping fund activity to support the creative industries, tourism and a stronger cultural sector by levering in EU Structural and Investment Funds from Local Enterprise Partnerships. The deadline for applications for the Creative local growth fund is 16 October 2015. Activities must start no earlier than 1 April 2016 and end no later than 31 March 2019 and applicants may apply for projects that take place over a maximum period of three years, provided that they are completed by 31 March 2019. Applicants can apply for between £150,000 (minimum) and £500,000 (maximum). This is to serve as match for funding, possibly for ESIFs. There is a particular reference to the ERDF, although our funding may also act as match funding for other ESIFs. The Arts Council grant cannot be the only source of match funding for funded activity. Each application must be collaborative, for example, with one or more arts and/or cultural organisaton working with LEPs and, potentially, other public sector bodies such as local authorities, further education colleges or universities. Heritage Lottery – First World War: then and now provides grants of £3,000–£10,000 for community projects which explore, conserve and share the heritage of the First World War. You can apply at any time and the application form is really straightforward. We will assess your application in eight weeks. Under this programme, we fund applications from: not-for-profit organisations; and partnerships led by not-for- profit organisations. If you are applying as a partnership, you will need to decide which organisation will fill in our application form and receive the grant. See more
Round 5 of Rosa’s FGM Small Grants Programme is now open for applications. Funded by Comic Relief, in this final round we will make an estimated 8-10 grants of between £500 and £5,000 to voluntary and community organisations across the UK. The grants will help funded organisations to: • become more confident, more knowledgeable, and more skilled in tackling FGM within their communities; • improve their skills in engaging with, and lobbying, statutory bodies to encourage appropriate responses to FGM; • contribute to a unified movement across the UK bringing together a range of organisations engaged in tackling FGM. In Round 5 we will exclusively support applications from organisations within the following categories:
• those engaging with and providing support to newly arrived communities; • supporting previous recipients of Rosa’s FGM Small Grants to continue their work beyond the life of the programme and to become sustainable. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR GRANT APPLICANTS SEEKING FUNDING DECISION IN 2015 FROM LLOYDS BANK FOUNDATION
For 2016 the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales will be switching to a Grant Rounds approach from its existing rolling enquiries. We believe this will help applicants by providing fixed deadlines for applications and decisions and will ensure that all enquiries receive a full decision within six months of submitting a funding enquiry.
If you require a funding decision before March 2016 you will need to have submitted an Expression of Interest Form via our website by midnight on Friday August 28th. The Foundation will ensure all enquiries receive a decision by the end of the year.
The Foundation will be closed to new funding requests during September 2015 and will re-open on Monday 5th October. Three grant rounds will operate in 2016 with decisions at the end of March, July and November. News from Andy Churchill with regards to next ERDF calls for the Liverpool City Region LEP
ERDF Calls for the next round of bids to be launched 3rd August 2015. The next round of calls has now been developed and will be launched on the GOV.UK website today. These calls are around Priority Axis 1 (1a and 1b) for Promoting Research and Innovation, Priority Axis 3 (3c and 3d) Gap Funding Projects and Place Marketing for Investment. This set of calls is for ERDF funding only, with the next call for ESF expected to be around October time. The deadline for the submission of Outline Applications to DCLG is 25th September and, to align with this, the LEP is holding workshops to give stakeholders information on each of the calls and to outline process.

‘Event Planning’ workshop by Natalie Weston, Senior Events Manager at the Marriott Hotel on the 3rd September 2015 in Liverpool. This is a morning workshop commencing at 10:30 am and finishing at 12:30 pm and finish with a light lunch.
‘Small Fundraisers’ was set up by fundraisers on Wirral to create a peer network, where they could access support, advice and good ideas to improve their fundraising practise from each other. Our next meeting will be held on the 10th September 2015 at the Barnstondale Centre and we have invited Jane Harris – Administrator from the Morgan Foundation to share her thoughts on which projects they are looking for and top tips on how to approach this fund.
‘Effective Presentations’ workshop by Diana Todd, Director of Sales at the Marriott Hotel in Liverpool on the 26th August. This is a full day workshop commencing at 9 am and finishing at 6 pm. Lunch will be at 1 pm for an hour, and there will be two additional 15 minute comfort breaks. The workshop is hard hitting, intense and full of tips, tools and feedback to staff, volunteers and trustees, to enable them to develop and deliver excellent presentations on behalf of their organisations. This is a workshop which will build on personal skills and enable Wirral organisations to become more sustainable in the long term as they have an improved ability to sell and market themselves to potential funders and sponsors.

NCVO’s chief executive Sir Stuart Etherington is leading a review into the self-regulation of charity fundraising. The review will take evidence from stakeholders in order to identify what changes are required to rebuild public trust in fundraising by charities. The review will also examine approaches to regulation in other areas, with a goal of identifying changes that will substantially strengthen the current system.
