Delivered by the Big Lottery Fund on behalf of the Office for Civil Society, the Local Sustainability Fund aims to help Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations become stronger, more sustainable, and more resilient, to ensure they prosper and continue to support beneficiaries in future years. The organisations which can apply for this funding will be chosen from those who complete the VCSE Diagnostic Tool. The organisations that are offered funding will be those with a strong track record of delivering services and empowering their beneficiaries which, with targeted support, can have a strong long term future. They will choose a number of organisations representing a range of beneficiaries, areas of work, locations and challenges, and give them the opportunity to apply for funding to help them with their transformation work. They are keen that each organisation takes ownership and control of their own change plans and long term transformation. The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-making foundations in the UK. The Lush Charity Pot Fund believe the most impact can be made by funding causes that are often overlooked by other funders, therefore they give priority to less popular issues which are more difficult to raise funds for. They’re looking for organisations that take on issues that others don’t, those that push the boundaries and challenge mainstream opinion, those that create long-term change. All applications will be considered irrespective of their geographical location or how the organisation is registered. Funding is available from a few hundred pounds to a maximum of £10,000 per project. The average grant is around £4,000. The Radcliffe Trust welcomes applications to the Music Scheme and Heritage & Crafts Scheme. The Music Scheme aims to support classical music performance and training, especially chamber music, composition and music education. Music education for children and adults with special needs, youth orchestras and projects at secondary and higher levels, including academic research, are particularly welcome. The deadline for the next round of applications is 31st August. The Heritage & Crafts Scheme aims to support the development of the skills, knowledge and experience that underpin the UK’s traditional cultural heritage and crafts sectors. This includes support for: craft and conservation training; practical projects (particularly those that include a strong training element); strategic and capacity-building projects which demonstrate clear benefits to the sector; and Special Needs projects whose emphasis is on skills development. Community Action Wirral have received an update from Amy Zawislak about the Liverpool City Region Impact Fund: “We’ve received an extension from DCLG so we can now make investments up until 31st December 2015. We have therefore extended the deadline for organisations to apply to the fund. We will be having a big push on marketing over the next couple of months with the aim of making all investments by October so that we can get them disbursed by the December deadline. Applications are assessed and decisions are made as and when applications are received. So if anyone’s interested in applying it’s advisable they submit the expression of interest asap. As soon as the budget has been fully committed the fund will close to applications until 2017/ 2019”.
