Creative, innovative, enthusiastic secondary schools, youth clubs/societies, Scouts and Guide groups are invited to take part in a Wirral’s Dragon’s Den Road Safety project which will be launched in September 2015. A team of youngsters (11-18yrs) are invited to pitch an idea to the ‘Wirral Dragons’ to run a road safety campaign in their local area. Budding performers, film makers, designers, teachers, business minds and project managers will get five minutes to pitch their idea to the Wirral Dragons. After the pitch the Dragons have the opportunity to ask questions about their proposed projects. Winning pitches will receive funding of up to £500 to deliver their project. The project will be launched in September when the brief and rules of the Den will be released. You will have 7 weeks to come up with a winning idea and present a pitch week commencing 19th October. You will then have until 13th February 2016 to deliver their campaigns/projects. The project is aimed at youngsters aged 11-18, There are no restrictions on the type of projects that youngsters can come up with or the number of people per team.
Artistic teams may choose to create artwork for an advertising campaign to be promoted in the local community. Those keen to tread the boards may choose to create a short film, docu drama or dance to go onto the website, or produce a play to present in other schools, maybe a courtroom re-enactment to decide who is guilty in a driving collision. Budding teachers may choose to create a fun and exciting game or workshop to deliver to primary schools about hazard perception, distractions and awareness on the road. Or you may decide to combine them all or something else! The project will need to keep within the budget so you will also need someone with a head (or calculator) for maths, someone to keep to the timescales of the project and of course some pupils who are happy to deliver that all important pitch to the dragons!

One Family Foundation will be accepting nominations for our second funding round from 10am on 1 September. We will be awarding another four awards of £25k and 15 of £5k. Again projects will need to be nominated to us by one of our 2.5m customers. Projects struggling to find a customer can post details of their project on our forum – http://goo.gl/BTBn2X. Action for Deafness welcomes applications for small grants for projects to benefit deaf people. Two awards are available from AFD: Grants of up to £5,000 per annum available for a maximum of 3 years for groups or organisation. Grants of up to £1,000 per annum available for a maximum of 3 years for individuals. These grants can be used to part fund or fully fund a project. Grants awarded must show a positive sustainable impact on the benefactors.
The benefactors should be Deaf, deafened, deaf blind or hard of hearing or family and friends thereof. Applicants must have their own bank account or, if an organisation, must have a bank account with 2 signatories. Priority will be given to projects within West Sussex but Action for Deafness welcomes applications from other areas. Funded projects must demonstrate that they are working towards Action for Deafness’ objects which are to enable and empower Deaf and hard of hearing people. See website for more information
Police Property Act Fund which has been made available for charities and groups who are committed to improving community safety, reducing crime or supporting victims across Merseyside. It is the Commissioner’s hope that this round will be used to help steer young people away from getting involved in criminal or dangerous behaviour during the half term, particularly over Mischief and Bonfire Nights. Organisations working with young people will be able to apply for a cash boost of up to £5,000 from the total fund of £45,000. The PPA fund is administered by the Community Foundation for Merseyside, (CFM) on behalf of the Commissioner. All applications must be submitted online via the Community Foundation for Merseyside by 5pm on Monday, 14th September. Dream Fund 2016 is now open for applications. The Dream Fund gives organisations the chance to deliver the project they have always dreamed of, but never had the opportunity to bring to life. We are asking charitable organisations across Great Britain to think big, be ambitious and collaborate with other not-for-profit partners to deliver their dream project. Dream Fund 2016 will offer a total award fund of £2 million for charitable organisations to deliver their ‘dream’ project in the areas of Scotland, England or Wales in 2016-2018. Charities will be able to apply for up to £1 million to deliver their dream project. There will be two or three awards in total. Successful projects will be announced in January 2016. We are accepting applications for projects that fit with one or more of the six charitable purposes of Postcode Dream Trust. These are: community development; environmental protection, health, human rights; participation in sports; and, prevention of poverty. Stage 1 opens for applications on Monday 17th August and closes on Tuesday 22nd September at 5.30 pm. Applicants will be informed of their progress via e-mail within 3 weeks of the deadline. We will assess whether your project fits with what the Aged Veterans Fund is all about. One of the main considerations for the assessment team and decision makers will be evidence of the coordination of bids, which will enable the Aged Veterans Fund to have a real impact and to avoid funding competing or conflicting applications. We want to fund projects which have a real and lasting impact on the quality of life of older veterans; which benefit them and support them with their non-core health; wellbeing and social care needs. Families and carers may also benefit from the projects indirectly. There is a two stage application process for the Aged Veterans Fund; this expression of interest form is the first stage. If your project is one we invite to stage two, you will be asked to complete a full application form. Grants of up to £1,000,000 are available this year. We can pay for most of the things you’ll need for your project whether it’s people’s time, buying or hiring equipment, or minor improvements to land or buildings. The Covenant Fund has £10 million each year to support the Armed Forces Covenant by funding projects which address specific priorities (below).
There are two funding routes:
• small grants, for applications up to a maximum of £20,000 and
• large grants, for applications of between £20,001 and £500,000.
The following three priorities have been set for the financial year 2015-16 and will be reviewed for 2016-17:
1. Community integration
2. The coordination and delivery of support to the Armed Forces community
3. Former service personnel in the criminal justice system
There are two application rounds this year, with deadline dates of:
1. Noon on Thursday 17 September 2015 and
2. Noon on Thursday 17 December 2015

Creative Europe – Culture. Organisations, businesses and institutions active in the cultural and creative sectors are eligible to apply. The cultural and creative sectors include: architecture, archives and libraries, artistic crafts, cultural heritage, design, festivals, music, performing arts, publishing, radio and visual arts. Partnerships for cooperation projects must consist of a minimum of three different partners, from three different countries (for small cooperation projects) and at least six different partners, from six different countries (for large cooperation projects). Participation in the programme is open to Member States, acceding countries, candidate countries and potential candidates benefiting from a pre-accession strategy. The 2016 Call for Cooperation Projects is now open with a deadline of 7 October 2015.

If your community organisation is looking to update its kitchen facilities, prizes are now on offer from the British cooking appliance company, Stoves. It is part of the company’s new ‘Community Kitchens’ campaign and aims to place kitchens at the heart of local communities. There are three prizes available: silver and bronze winners will receive Stoves appliance packages worth between £2,000 and £3,000, with the overall winner receiving £5,000 in prizes. To be eligible, your project must be owned, developed and led by the local community. In your nomination, you must explain why a kitchen would add value to your project in no more than 300 words. The closing date for entries to the first Community Kitchens competition is 13 September 2015. Once the nominations period has closed, a shortlist will be announced, which will then be put to a public vote. Find out more on our website.
Think Big aims to inspire, support and enable young people (13-25 year olds) with great ideas; so they can have an impact on society while getting the hands on experience and skills they need to thrive in today’s digital world.
This Coastal Revival Fund will support projects to help revive heritage assets that are important to local communities but have not yet reached their full potential or are facing neglect. The grants will support communities looking to unlock the economic potential of those hard-to-tackle buildings, landscapes, facilities and amusements and sustain them in the longer-term. By paying for the initial or supporting work to get restoration projects underway, this Fund will act as a catalyst to attract additional financing from the private and charitable sectors. It will boost local economies by tapping into the opportunities that the heritage economy offers to new businesses and existing firms keen to grow. It will support projects that demonstrate the creativity, enterprise and passion needed to help seaside towns become year round destinations in which people want to live and work. We are therefore inviting bids from local communities, charities and councils of up to £50,000 per project, by 23:59 on Monday 14 September. See website
Neighbourhood Planning Fund We offer two different types of support to help you write your neighbourhood plan or prepare a neighbourhood development order: By completing an Expression of Interest form, we can determine what type of support you are eligible for.
All groups writing a neighbourhood plan or neighbourhood development order will be eligible to apply for up to £8,000 in grant. Groups facing more complex issues can apply for specific packages of technical support where needed, and may also be eligible for further £6,000 in grant. Groups with complex issues include: Neighbourhood forums (where there is no Parish or Town Council) Clusters of parishes, High growth areas, Deprived areas, Business led neighbourhood plans, Populations of over 25,000, Groups preparing a neighbourhood development order. NHS England is launching a new community grant opportunity. NHS England is seeking to make grant awards to showcase good practice around patient and citizen participation in healthcare. We know that there is really excellent patient and public involvement work happening all around the country and we want to do more to share and learn from what is happening locally. NHS England will be awarding a number of small community grants to not for profit organisations who can tell the story of their patient and citizen engagement work in a creative and interesting way. This can be in a wide variety of ways; videos, photo or audio books, leaflets and posters, graphics or other formats. Grants are available of up to £1,000 each, the total funds available are £10,000. The Idox Innovation Awards aim to showcase those projects that have demonstrated a creative and forward-thinking approach to improving the life of communities in one or more UK locations. £3,000 will be awarded to each winning project of the Award’s five categories, together with promotional and publicity opportunities. ‘Event Planning’ workshop by Natalie Weston, Senior Events Manager at the Marriott Hotel on the 3rd September 2015 in Liverpool. This is a morning workshop commencing at 10:30 am and finishing at 12:30 pm and finish with a light lunch.
‘Small Fundraisers’ was set up by fundraisers on Wirral to create a peer network, where they could access support, advice and good ideas to improve their fundraising practise from each other. Our next meeting will be held on the 10th September 2015 at the Barnstondale Centre and we have invited Jane Harris – Administrator from the Morgan Foundation to share her thoughts on which projects they are looking for and top tips on how to approach this fund.
