Community Action Wirral has been successful in its bid for Wirral Council’s ‘Third sector infrastructure support’.
Annette Roberts, Community Action Wirral’s CEO sees this as the perfect opportunity for Wirral to adopt a completely different approach to strengthening our local Social Sector and its infrastructure: Community Action Wirral is a uniquely placed organisation that will, for the first time, start from a ‘what’s strong, not what’s wrong’ view of the sector.
Speaking about the organisation’s aims over the coming years, Annette said “Our vision is for change, and for the social sector to be fully integrated within the borough’s business community; to be recognised and supported in the same way as the ‘for profit’ organisations and for all of Wirral to participate in being agents of positive social change.
The new contract will see Community Action Wirral adopt the ABCD model, (building on local people’s skills to develop the local community) applied not only to individual sector members but also to the social sector as a community itself.
Community Action Wirral will be launching the new service in October, but in the meantime, we will be continuing with the engagement sessions for the sector and setting up specific networking events to give groups and organisations the opportunity to develop real and lasting relationships. This will encourage true collaboration for future working relationships.
