The Claude Ballard Southall Memorial Charity – next Trustee meeting end July.

0

Background

The Charity was set up in memory of Claude Ballard Southall who lived in Stourton, near Stourbridge, West Midlands and died in 1994. The Charity was formed under Declaration of Trust dated 12 February 2009 and registered with the Charity Commission on 6 March 2009.

General Principles

The charity has general charitable purposes and the Trustees have an absolute discretion to benefit exclusively charitable objects and purposes in the City of Liverpool and the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral.

In view of the wide discretion given, the Trustees have decided to limit the extent of their grant giving to charities and not for profit organisations for exclusively charitable purposes working in or with the following:

  1. Children and young people under the age of 25 who are in need by virtue of disability, whether physical or mental;
  2. Amateur youth music; and
  3. Organisations providing support and services for deaf and blind individuals.
  4. Organisations providing accommodation and a place of safety and support for women, children and homeless persons.

Please note the Trustees do not fund organisations which are not ‘charitable’ (within the meaning of the law); nor do they accept applications from individuals. Further guidance as to grant funding priorities and restrictions can be requested from the Secretary to the Trustees by e-mail [email protected]

Prospective applicants should be aware that their application may be unsuccessful. The number of projects that can be supported is, as a necessity, limited the amount of funds available for distribution in any year and it may not be possible, therefore, for the Trustees to make an award even within the grant funding priorities.

Process

The Trustees meet twice a year in March and August. All applications for grants should be submitted to the Secretary to the Trustees (as detailed in the application form) by the end of February (for the March meeting) and the end of July (for the August meeting).

Please be advised that the Trustees may require or request further information following the meeting.

If the application is unsuccessful, you will be advised of such in writing, but the Trustees are not required to provide any further information as to the basis of that decision.
