At the beginning of May, the Community Action Wirral team and our colleagues at Wirral Chamber went to Woodside Ferry Village to help out our friends at Independent Wirral with their new market space.
We swept up leaves and moss, litter-picked and ensured the space was visitor-ready for Independent Wirral’s Market @ Woodisde to launch the next day. This new, dedicated chalet village hosts twenty-four retailers showcasing their wares covering confectionery, homeware, and bespoke fashion.
The market has been a roaring success and it has been beneficial to the businesses that have rented stalls there as 69% of their Traders enjoyed a turnover of £500 to £1400 during the Bank Holiday weekend.
We also reached out to one independent business owner, Megan Ruiter of her bespoke clothing brand Ruiter for her experience of the market:

Megan also has an upcoming fashion show on Thursday 15th July at The Fashion Hub Liverpool, if you would like to see more of her work showcased, or go to her website. Due to her success, she is also set to dress the contestants on the next season of Love Island.
This now permanent fixture to Woodside Ferry Village will hopefully generate income for both the small businesses set up there and the restaurants within the Ferry Terminal.
