The attached is regarding the provision (Households Into Work) HIW are working with DWP aimed at tackling digital poverty to access online help, job search, training, online communication etc.

They would initially need name and contact details to start with and a member of HIW will follow up to assess and complete referral.

If successful, the client will be provided with safely delivered relevant equipment including internet access to complete 1 online course. On completion of a digital course they will be provided with a digital device to keep and use.

SUITE OF COURSES

IT AND DIGITAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Entry Level 3 Award in Digital Skills (Portfolio)

This qualification’s main purpose is to enable you to develop basic skills and knowledge in how to use a computer. This will give you the confidence and ability to progress to the next level of vocational learning in IT user skills or any other subject where basic computer skills are required such as administration.

The aims of the qualification are to enable learners:

  1. To gain some basic computer skills
  2. To focus on the digital skills in the area they are most likely to use, e.g. digital photography, music or social media

This qualification is for learners who:

  • Want to develop a basic understanding of IT and digital skills
  • Are thinking about further vocational learning in IT User Skills or in any subject where basic IT skills are required
  • Are unemployed and would like to develop skills to help improve job prospects
  • Entry Level 3 and Level 1 Award in Internet Safety for IT Users (Online multiple-choice test)

There have been significant changes in internet use, particularly the increased use of social media and the growing incidence of cyberbullying. Embracing these trends is the Entry 3 Award in Internet Safety for IT Users, a single-unit qualification which aims to develop learners’ understanding of internet safety and the skills and knowledge required to stay safe, legal and confident online, in life and at work.

Learners will understand the risks when using the internet, be able to recognise negative online behaviours and take the necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and others, including protecting their online reputation and digital footprint. Learners will also learn how to guard against viruses and other threats, why it is important to follow guidelines to work safely and responsibly online and where to report concerns with online content.

The aims of the qualification are to enable learners to:

  1. Understand the risks and threats faced by users when online
  2. Understand preventative measures to safeguard self and others
  3. Understand preventative measures to maintain data security and protect systems and devices
  4.  Understand safe practice guidelines and procedures

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING QUALIFICATIONS

  • Level 1 Award in Mental Health and Wellbeing (Online multiple-choice test)

The Level 1 Award in Mental Health and Well-Being introduces learners to the terms ‘mental health’ and ‘well-being’ and the different types of conditions and the support available.

The aims of the qualification are to enable learners:

  1. To understand what is meant by the terms ‘mental health’ and ‘well-being’
  2. To understand different mental health conditions and treatment
  3. To know how to find support for mental health conditions
  4. To know how to look after own mental health and well-being
  • Level 1 Award in Personal Wellbeing (Online multiple-choice test)

The qualification content provides learners with knowledge and skills enabling them to make balanced and informed choices about their life, both now and in the future, and to develop confidence in their own abilities. Topics covered include motivation, assertiveness, understanding feelings and emotions, and self-esteem. The qualification also offers learners an opportunity to explore issues relating to the society in which they live – topics which may be relevant to their own lives. Options available include units on body image, bullying, drugs, eating disorders and relationships.

The Entry 3 Award in Heathy Living for Well-Being and Mental Health qualification is designed to give learners knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of healthy living, including the importance of mental health, healthy eating and the principles of physical activity to support health.

The aims of the qualification are to enable learners to:

  1. Understand the importance of healthy living
  2. Understand the importance of mental health
  3. Understand the importance of healthy eating
  4. Understand the principles of physical activity for health

VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Level 1 Award in Infection Control and Prevention (Online multiple-choice test)

The Level 1 Award in Infection Control and Prevention introduces learners to the principles of infection control and prevention in daily life. It considers the different causes of infection and how infection is spread. Learners will also be able to identify their responsibilities and that of others in controlling and preventing infection and gain a clear understanding of the importance of good personal hygiene.

The aims of these qualifications are to enable learners:

This qualification is designed for learners who would benefit from reflection and adaptation of their own behaviour and character in order to establish themselves within modern society.

The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to develop the skills necessary to work effectively with others, whether in the world of work or in further study. This qualification is designed for learners who need development of the skills necessary to work effectively with others, whether in the world of work or in further study. The qualification can be adapted to the learners’ own needs by choosing specific units on topics that are relevant to them personally. Completion of the Certificate reflects the learning journey of self-evaluation and personal improvement.

The Entry 3 Award in Equality and Diversity is a short one-unit qualification that introduces the learner to the key terms in relation to equality and diversity.

  3. Understand how organisations can promote best practice in relation to equality and diversity
