Relaxation of rules on charity AGMs and governance due to end on 30 September 2020

You may remember that the Charity Commission produced guidance to “make it lawful for charitable companies and charitable incorporated organisations to postpone members’ meetings or to hold them remotely, even if this is not allowed by the charitable company’s articles of association or the CIO’s constitution”.

AGMs that were due to be held between 26 March and 21 August are covered by the guidance.

However, the measures under the act expire on 30 September 2020. Although the guidance may be extended, this is not a given – so please plan accordingly.
