Reaching Communities Masterclass – 8th July 2016


This workshop is for Trustees and Staff of Community Organisations, Charities and Social Enterprises who are considering applying to the National Lottery’s Reaching Communities programme for revenue funding of over £10,000.

We will be holding the workshop on Friday the 8th July 2016 at the St James Centre.  This is a full day workshop starting at 10 am prompt and finishing at 4 pm. Participants should arrive from 9:30 am onwards.

The areas that will be covered by the workshop will be:

  • Understand the application form and bid process
  • How to involve your beneficiaries
  • Know what is meant by Evidence of Need
  • Be able to explain the need for your project
  • Understand Outcomes and how to write them
  • Be able to provide strong organisational evidence
  • Understand the Assessment Criteria
  • Budgets

The workshop is designed to help you to plan and complete a competitive application to the Reaching Communities programme.

We have invited Funding Consultant Peter M Riley to produce the workshop and provide his expertise on the day.  Peter has over 32 years’ Local Government experience working within various Departments including Leisure Services, Planning and Economic Development and latterly Regeneration. He was Wirral Council’s Project Manager responsible for National Lottery project activity across Wirral for 15 years. He has assisted hundreds of groups and organisations in successfully applying for National Lottery funding – with grant successes totalling over £26 Million.

Over this time Peter has built up extensive knowledge and expertise in advising clients how to write successful bids, helping to deliver small scale schemes to multi-million pound projects. He was joint founder of the Merseyside Funding Information Portal (MFIP) and has delivered many workshops across Wirral and Merseyside about National Lottery funding opportunities. Peter has also managed National Lottery projects on behalf of Wirral Council so understands the challenges in delivering projects.

The cost per person attending the course will be £85.
