New Diagnostic Tool for Investing in Volunteers Essentials

Investing in Volunteers Essentials have created a new diagnostic tool.

They created this tool to help your organisation or group to think about best practice in relation to how you involve volunteers.

They based it on the six quality areas that make up the new edition of Investing in Volunteers launching in 2021, their nationally recognised quality award. They also used research into what matters most to volunteers

The tool will help you to think about whether you have the best ways of involving volunteers in place, and the areas where you might improve or develop.

  • Step 1: sign up. Enter your name and email address and they’ll email you a unique link to your version of the tool.
  • Step 2: complete the tool. The tool contains six groups of statements about good practice. For each statement, you’ll score your organisation for how it’s doing now and for how you’re planning for it to be doing after your chosen time period (e.g. one year). You can add notes to explain your answers if you need to, but please take care not to include any personal information in them. Be honest and realistic – it’ll help you plan better. Where are we now? Where do we plan to be?
  • Step 3: view your results. You can view, download or print your results at any time. You’ll see scores for each area you’ve completed and your overall score.
