Micah Volunteer Programme – Referrals

Micah Liverpool is a social justice charity based in Liverpool Cathedral.

They have a new Volunteer Programme, which is a 9-week scheme that helps people back into work.

Sessions are starting on Tuesday 6th October.

See poster below for more details about what they offer:

Volunteers will have to be available in the week commencing Monday 28th September in order to fill out paperwork and get them signed on and will have to attend an induction for health and safety purposes (hoping to be Monday 5th October).

About the programme:

The Micah Liverpool Volunteer Programme works with people who have been unemployed long-term, supporting them for 9 weeks to improve their skills, confidence and readiness for work.

They offer a variety of volunteering roles at Liverpool Cathedral and build partnerships with employers through our network at the cathedral.

All of our volunteers attend our recruitability training and complete vocational qualifications in Health & Safety, Emergency First Aid and Food Hygiene.

What’s involved?

There are 4 key elements of the Volunteer Programme:

Voluntary placements

Roles include retail, catering, administration, food bank, cleaning and more. All voluntary placements are on the Cathedral site

Practical training and learning opportunities

Focusing only on practical, useful skills that help people search for, and secure, the right job for them. We also provide vocational courses that strengthen your CV and job applications

Guaranteed interviews when you’re ready for work

Through extensive employer engagement Micah volunteers can access guaranteed interviews with organisations such as Liverpool Philharmonic and the University of Liverpool

One to one support when needed

One to one support from one of our co-ordinators to help volunteers create an outstanding CV, prepare for interview or send in an amazing application

The programme has no religious requirements and welcomes people from any background, culture or faith. We only have two requirements; you must want to get a job and you must be able to commit to the whole course.
