Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority
Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority are setting up new cookery clubs with a focus on minimizing food waste and are looking for sixth forms, colleges, universities and organisations who work with young adults age 16 – 25 to take part in this project. There are only 20 funded spaces available and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority looking for Young people across Merseyside and Halton who would like to take part in a cookery program to make them champions of reducing food and kitchen waste across the region.
By taking part in this project you will receive:
– A free training space at our two day train the trainer Let’s Get Cooking course
– A bespoke recipe and resources pack for each of the young adults in your cookery club
– Funding to buy new equipment and ingredients to run your new cookery club (£300)
By taking part in this project you would be expected to:
– Attend the two day train the trainer course in Liverpool 27th and 28th September
– Run a set number of cookery sessions with approximately 10 young adults with a focus on minimizing food waste
– Report back beneficiary numbers and a small amount of general information.
The focus of the cookery sessions would be to learn how to cook healthy meals from scratch, giving students the life skills needed for independent living. There is also a focus on reducing food waste, making cooking more cost effective, and ensuring students get value for money out of their food. This is a very enjoyable project and we are delighted to have received this further funding in order to allow others to benefit from this unique opportunity.
This project will start in October 2016 however applications for spaces are now available.
