Third sector organisations are invited to discover what is on offer from the University of Liverpool such as students for work placements and volunteering as well as research expertise, knowledge exchange and training. This marketplace style event will be run as an informal drop-in for representatives of charity, volunteer and other social enterprise organisations to peruse stalls maintained by the following University groups:
- The Guild of Students – providing a platform for volunteering opportunities and organisations for Liverpool’s students, www.liverpoolguild.org/volunteering-opportunities
- Business Gateway – to identify and gain access to University resources
- Careers & Employability – building bridges for student careers, facilitating recruitment
- School of Law and Social Justice (SLSJ) – student work placements
- Interchange – a charity to match SLSJ research students with the third sector
- Third sector research group – providing research expertise and opportunities for collaboration
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) – professional development training course opportunities
- A volunteering module for SSPC students: Understanding Non-Profit Organisations
- Liverpool Doctoral College (LDC) – work placements for PhD students (TBC)
The event offers the opportunity for visitors to chat with representative from these key areas of the University to identify ways of working together for mutual benefit. It will also be an opportunity to network with other third sector groups.
How research can be of benefit to third sector organisations: research into how your organisation functions, the needs of the communities served and the wider context of the environment in which your organisation operates will help you to make the most of your resources to achieve maximum impact. Current research interests of University researchers include important current issues for third sector organisations such as: the impact of social value; social housing; social/ health care; and social welfare law. This event will help you to understand the research interests and capacity of University researchers, investigate options for funding research and explore how research may benefit your organisation.
