Localgiving – Match Funding opportunity & online fundraising support for groups on Wirral

Localgiving have a match funding opportunity and some online fundraising support to provide for groups in the North West. We are looking to support up to 75 groups in the North West with £500 in match funding, and 12 months’ free support raising funds online through Localgiving.

First of all, a brief overview of us at Localgiving. We’re an organisation that supports locally focused charitable organisations to develop their online fundraising and digital marketing activities. We have an online fundraising platform (see https://localgiving.org/about/mission/ for further details) and also run regional/national programmes to provide intensive support for organisations that are struggling to engage with technology or don’t have the necessary skills to raise awareness and funds online. The overall aim is that by helping organisations to develop these skills, they will become more diverse in their fundraising streams, and less reliant on a narrow group of fundraising opportunities.

We’ve been funded to provide training and mentoring for 75 organisations working on environmental projects across the North West to help them develop their digital marketing and online fundraising activities (this includes projects where the environmental benefits may be secondary – e.g. a gardening project run by a befriending organisation, or a charity where volunteers ‘upcycle’ used furniture and give to people in need).  As part of this funding there is 12 months’ free membership to Localgiving and up to £500 in match funding for each of the identified organisations, to help kick-start their online fundraising activities.

I’ll be working directly with the groups to try to support them in raising that £500, be that helping to plan campaigns, looking at potential supporters, or just providing ongoing support and advice. I’m based at the GMCVO’s offices at the St Thomas Centre, and am able to travel out to meet any of the groups we’re looking to support on this programme for one-to-one sessions and support. More information here about the programme –https://localgiving.org/rdp/north-west

We currently have around 30 groups either online/in the process of registering with the match funding programme.
