Give and Win Voluntary is a new society lottery which provides a simple way for voluntary organisations and charities to raise funds. Think of it as an online fundraising raffle. Charities create personalised fundraising pages on the website and then their members can purchase lottery tickets through their page. For every £1 ticket purchased through their fundraising page the charity will get 50p. Players have the chance to win cash prizes in weekly draws. In addition, if a £25,000 jackpot is won, the charity nominated by that lottery player will also receive £25,000.
Any voluntary or recreation charity in the UK can get involved as long as it is designated as not for profit and can demonstrate good corporate governance. Your charity must be a member of NCVO to be eligible to take part in the scheme.
If your charity meets the above criteria then you can apply to join the scheme by registering on the website and so agreeing to the terms and conditions of membership. There are no joining fees.
Licensing to operate the lottery has been received from the Gambling Commission by NCVO Voluntary Organisation Lottery Society and Capen. All the administration costs and responsibilities that come with running a lottery are covered by these licenses.
For every £1 ticket purchased through your charity’s fundraising page your charity will receive 50p. The more tickets bought through your page the more money your charity will raise. This money will go to your charity regardless of whether anyone who bought a ticket through your page won a prize or not. By running the lottery through Give and Win Voluntary instead of running it yourselves, charities are spared the administration costs and responsibilities that come with running a lottery as these are covered by the licences held by NCVO Voluntary Organisation Lottery Society and Capen. This means you can direct your time and the funds you raise towards your own charity development.
