Catch22 and National Citizen Service (NCS) are looking for any small local charities or organisations that would want to get involved with some local young people.
Catch22 – NCS
NCS is a fantastic programme that helps young people (15-17 years old, up to 25 with additional needs) develop skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication. Participants then develop a social action project to support a local organisation that they’re passionate about, and spend 60 hours putting the project into action in their local community.
During our Summer 2017 programme, our groups of young people supported a wide range of local organisations for their social action projects. In total, our groups raised an amazing £38,164.93 and volunteered 58,200 hours giving back to local organisations like yourselves.
Catch22 – Meet the Community session
The day will consist of local organisations/charities operating a carousel style day. We have planned a “market place” theme event where organisations can set themselves up a stall with banners and any promotional materials and we’ll invite our young people to go around the room by themselves and find out information from yourselves. The young people will have been tasked with finding out who you are, the work you do in the community, and how they could potentially support your organisation for their project. During their project, they will have to fundraise, create an awareness campaign and complete a practical task.
This will be a fantastic opportunity for you to reach a large number of local young people in one setting and network with other organisations. After the session, the teams of young people will continue to develop their projects and will make contact with their chosen organisation with whom they wish to support in due course.
If you would like more information about becoming involved in their Meet the Community session including dates etc, please contact Jay Mulby via email or on 0151 546 5120 / 07979 241 595.
