As part of a North Birkenhead Safer Streets campaign, Wirral Council has been able to secure additional funding for CCTV and street lights installations to make your streets safer.
The North Birkenhead Safer Streets Project is a six month crime reduction programme starting in October 2020 in North Birkenhead.
The project, led by Wirral Council with funding awarded to the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner from the Home Office, is asking for local people to help decide how and where crime reduction projects should best be spent.

The deadline to complete the survey is at 11:59pm on Friday 9th October 2020.
The North Birkenhead Safer Streets Project involves a range of crime prevention interventions. These include:
- CCTV and Street Lighting
- Home Security
- Action Days
CCTV and Street Lighting
CCTV cameras and street lighting in the area will be improved as one of the scheduled crime prevention measures.

The North Birkenhead Safer Streets Project will be repairing existing and installing new alleygates within the Safer Streets area, to decrease blackspots where crime can happen more easily.

Action Days Postponed
Across North Birkenhead there will be a series of Action Days taking place.
Action Days are not cancelled, but postponed. This is due to the new Covid-19 restrictions applying to Wirral from midnight on 2 October.
New dates will be posted here, and on the leaflets pushed through residents’ doors, as soon as possible.
The aim of these action days are to:
- Clean, clear and make small environmental improvements to the local area
- Make a plan of further work that is needed to improve the local area
