Developing a Borough-wide Approach to Prevention

Wirral Council and Peopletoo

Wirral VCS Project Briefing January 2021

Wirral Council are working in partnership with Peopletoo to support the co-production of a borough-wide approach to, and framework for, prevention.

The aim of this framework is to establish and embed an over-arching set of principles within which all partners across Wirral will work together; driving collaboration, enhancing preventative projects and strategic plans, and aligning priorities to improve outcomes and increase the quality of life for children and families across Wirral.

This project commenced in October 2020, and to date they have had really exciting conversations internally as a Council, understanding what each service’s priorities are, and how services can work together to increase the breadth of impact of the work we have planned.

In January 2021, they will be circulating a survey to VCS organisations to help understand the breadth of the VCS in Wirral and the types of preventative projects that are delivered across neighbourhoods within the borough. Colleagues from Peopletoo will also be attending VCS network meetings to share wider information around the project and to start the conversation around what prevention means to VCS organisations, understanding what VCS organisations’ preventative priorities are.

In February 2021, VCS organisations and Council partners will be invited to attend virtual workshops and forums where perspectives around prevention will be brought together, and where all partners will begin to priorities issues and plan collective efforts in order to improve outcomes for all people across the borough.

If you are VCS organisation and wish to contribute to the discussion, you can do so here. The survey will close on 5th February 2021.

Invitations to virtual workshops and the virtual forum will be circulated at the beginning of February 2021. They look forward to working with the sector as the project progresses, and to supporting the sector to build on all of the highly valued preventative work that is already taking place across Wirral.
