I am pleased to be able to inform you that following the extensive Selective Licensing consultation, all representations were considered and a report was written and presented to Wirral Council’s Cabinet on 1st October 2018 where it was agreed to designate a Selective Licensing Scheme in four small areas in Wirral.  A copy of the report is available on the Council’s website following the link below.

I have attached a copy of the public notice of Designation of the Selective Licensing Areas for your information.

The Scheme will come into effect on 1st April 2019 and will last for 5 years.  It will require landlords who privately rent out properties in the designated areas to obtain a licence from the Council.  They will need to show basic safety checks have been carried out and they have appropriate management arrangements in place.

It is a criminal offence to let a privately rented property in a designated area without a licence, or fail to comply with any of the conditions of the licence.

If you would like any further information, please go to  Landlords, Managing agents or tenants can email the Council on [email protected] to see if a specific property is affected.
