Over lockdown, gyms and leisure centres have been closed, and not everyone has had the space to play the sports they love at home. Now that lockdown is ending though, community leisure centres need our help. Several centres are on the verge of collapse after months of no income. Sports England has therefore set about saving them with their new fund.
The Community Leisure Recovery Fund aims to provide funds for community-run leisure centres in England with £5 million of National Lottery investment to assist the reopening and recovery of their services.
The money raised in April will then be able to fund them over the period from 1 April to 30 September 2021. It will go towards a mixture of facilities including swimming pools and sports halls, that are open to all members of the community. Facilities that are members-only may not apply.
Apply from noon at 6 April till noon at 29 April to be considered.
