0 Now, New and Next – Learning for Arts and Cultural fundraisers

This new digital publication aims to bring together some of the learning from the Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy programme. In its Now, New and Next format, it seeks to establish what is happening now, what is new and innovative, and what is coming next in relation to arts and cultural fundraising. It is aimed at Trustees, leaders of arts and cultural organisations and fundraising practitioners and anyone else making decisions about where to invest valuable resources in fundraising.

0 Introducing Advising Communities

Sadly, Community Matters was forced to close, but in its final weeks we were working with the team on how we could safeguard the essential services they had been offering to the community sector for so many years. Great news! Our new advice and support services are now available at www.advisingcommunities.org.uk.

0 ‘Small Fundraisers’ Peer Network Meeting on the 29th June 2016

The ‘Small Fundraisers’ next meeting is on the 29th June from 12 noon to 2pm at the St James Centre. There is no need to register, just turn up.

St James Centre have very kindly offered their venue for this meeting, and they can be found at 344 Laird Street, Birkenhead North, CH41 7AL. We are meeting in the Multiskills Room with coffee and tea supplied. There is plenty of parking, and if you are coming by train, get off at Birkenhead North Station and it is a 5 minute walk.

We meet from 12 noon to 2pm. We do not have a funder for this meeting so we will be having a #Problem Swap Shop, we break for 10 minutes to eat (bring a sandwich) and chat, and then move onto the peer expertise topic and then networking. This month the peer expertise topic will be a discussion about where to search for appropriate funders.

0 The National Citizenship Service (NCS) Community Programme

Every year the NCS engages with 180 young people from across Wirral. As part of the project each young person agrees to give 60 hours of volunteering within the communities of Wirral by supporting a social sector group of their choice. In groups of 15, the young people themselves decide which social sector groups they would like to support.

As part of the programme we are asking any interested social sector groups to come along to speak to the young people, tell them about your aims and how they could help you achieve them and projects you are doing or planning to do. There will be three market stall events on Thursday 7th July (9.30am-12.30pm), Thursday 21st July (9.30am-12.30pm) and Thursday 4th August (9.30am-12.30pm) to give you an opportunity to speak to the young people about your group.
