During recent months and due to the impact of COVID 19, more organisations are having to find new ways to deliver learning. For most, this has meant quickly developing new skills to deliver sessions remotely.
Whilst Partners have adapted well, there are a few common themes that keep cropping up in conversation. These themes are:
- How do we ensure that young people and vulnerable adults are safeguarded in this new world?
- How do we delivery quality remote/blended learning when we move from the classroom to online?
- We are now relying on technology more than ever. How do we ensure internet security?
Working in partnership with Employability Solutions, VOLA are providing a series of workshops on these themes.
Safeguarding and COVID-19 Workshop – Tuesday 13th October 2-4pm or Friday 16th October 10am – 12:00
Safeguarding and child protection are as important now as they ever have been. But with many children and young people spending less time in education and social distancing measures in place across the UK, we all need to think about the way we keep them safe during this time.
Working through the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that there is an increase in children and young people’s vulnerability along with a reduction in normal protective services. However social connections and social support can provide a protective effect for children’s safety and wellbeing.
This workshop will help you to do everything you can in this new world we live in to ensure our learners are safeguarded.
Cybersecurity Workshop – Tuesday 20th October 10am -12.00 or Wednesday 21st October 10am -12.00
The world relies on technology more than ever before. As a result, digital data creation has surged. Today, we store a great deal of that data on electronic devices and transmit it across the internet. Devices and their underlying systems have vulnerabilities that, when exploited, undermine the health and objectives of our organisations.
The purpose of this one-part cybersecurity workshop is to share best practices of the protection of Internet-connected systems in the fight against cybercrime, and is intended to give participants a high-level introduction and overview into the ever-changing world of Cybersecurity which has greatly impacted our society during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Blended Learning Workshop – Tuesday 20th October 2-4pm or Wednesday 21st October 2-4pm
Many of us are now delivering in classrooms without walls! We are having to be more flexible and creative in the ways we deliver learning, and this workshop will explore how we can best implement blended learning.
Blended learning is a mix of face-to-face teaching and online learning (i.e. devices connected to the internet) using technology to provide a more personalised approach to learning, giving students control over the time, place, path, and pace of their learning.
The workshop will explore how we respond to COVID-19 by transferring service delivery from the classroom to online, remote working and distance learning. Alongside this we will explore what additional tools we can use to support this and best practice in delivering online sessions.
All of the sessions will be hosted via Zoom or Teams by Employability Solutions.
All of the sessions will be delivered twice to give you more options to attend.
To book onto these workshops, email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, organisation and which session(s) and times you want to attend. You will receive instructions/links to the session(s) nearer the time.
