Birkenhead Park’s 175th Anniversary

Next year will be the 175th anniversary of Birkenhead Park’s opening and we hope to commemorate it with a year of events and activities. We want to celebrate not only the Park’s history, but also what it represents for our communities today.

For 175 years, Birkenhead Park has been the ‘People’s Garden’ and so we want to put the participation of people at the centre of the celebrations! We are inviting local schools, sport clubs, organisations, and community groups to take part by organising an event or activity as part of the overall programme.

Whether you would like to organise a sports event, a concert, a picnic, or an activity for children, we would love to hear from you. It doesn’t matter if its large or small, we will do our best to assist in any way we can, support the event/activity’s promotion, and add it to our yearly calendar.

If you would like to know more, or if you would like to discuss an idea, please contact Marie Le Devehat ( To register an event or an activity in 2022, you can initially email

Please note that in the current context of the pandemic we will have to follow whatever national and local health guidelines that exist at the time of the event or activity.

We very much hope that you can join us and look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Birkenhead Park’s team
