Be in Birkenhead Summer Festival Thursday 26 July

Hamilton Square, Birkenhead 11.30am-4.00pm

Now in its third year, ‘Be in Birkenhead’ has become the biggest and most popular family festival in Wirral. The event is a celebration of all the great things happening in Birkenhead and everything that the town has to offer will once again take place in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead and kick start the summer holidays for thousands of school children and their families.

The Summer Festival aims to attract visitors to the market town to experience the splendour of its town square. The event is supported by Wirral Council and a host of community organisations who will bring Hamilton Square to life with fun activities to entertain kids young and old.

Baby and toddler group Bounce and Rhyme will bring their interactive nursery rhymes and bouncing games for babies, toddlers and their parents to enjoy together. For the younger kids, Wirral Play Council will be holding one of their fabulous Summer Playschemes with exciting activities including sports, arts, crafts and games. Staff and volunteers from The Hive Youth Zone will be offering a range of their exciting activity sessions for older children and young adults to help educate and inspire but are also to generate a lot of fun. For the footy fans, Tranmere Rovers will be holding a pop-up soccer academy with skills workshops and training sessions, giving boys and girls the opportunity to train with professional youth coaches.

For the creative in attendance, workshops will be offering different arts and crafts aimed at all ages. Each visitor to the festival will be invited to craft a poppy. Every poppy made will be put on display during the Wilfred Owen festival and 2018 Armistice day celebrations which will mark the centenary since the end of WWI. This display will create a beautiful and poignant visual art installation at the Town Hall.

Community Action Wirral will be at the festival and we look forward to seeing you there.
