Barnardo’s are offering young care leavers, aged 19-25, the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Peer Mentor Qualification.
The programme offers them the chance to gain practical experience working with looked after young people. They will develop the essential skills needed to Mentor such as listening well, providing encouragement and guidance, understanding young people’s needs, options and to set achievable goals for moving forward.
Participants will be expected to attend a 3 day training programme, attend group sessions in order to gain support and further develop their mentoring skills, and spend 1-2 hours per week mentoring others.
