Aftermath Support is a registered charity based in the North West.
We support all victims of road collisions, their families and carers (including drivers and witnesses) across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire & Greater Manchester.
Help is available for those who have been bereaved as well as for those sustaining life-threatening/life-changing injuries.
We offer a choice and/or combination of face-to-face support from a volunteer support worker; telephone support via our office/support worker or information sent by (e)mail.
Support provided is tailored to the individual needs of family members and can include:
Emotional support: a listening ear, empathy, and coping strategies.
Practical support: we can help with immediate and vital issues such as funeral arrangements, funeral grants, financial issues and signposting to appropriate organisations (this is all covered in training).
Volunteers attend a 3 day induction course (not consecutive days) followed by a reference and DBS check.
Additional training days (as required) are also provided throughout their time with ‘aftermath.’
We are currently seeking professionals and/or people who have an interest in supporting road crash victims for a Merseyside based course due to start in September. This opportunity would suit anyone over 25 who is a good listener; non – judgemental and able to communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds. Previous experience of working with vulnerable people and /or evidence of these skills would be an advantage.
