The St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation is the charitable arm of the St. James’s Place Wealth Management Group. St. James’s Place Wealth Management is a leading UK wealth management company. Founded in 1991, St. James’s Place was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1997, and is a FTSE 100 company, with £85.7billion funds under management. St. James’s Place is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and specialises in the provision of high quality face-to-face financial advice to individuals, trustees and businesses.
The St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation has been supporting those in need since 1992, making a positive and lasting difference to people’s lives by awarding grants to charities registered in the UK to assist them in the incredible work they do every day. So far, we’ve raised and distributed over £56 million to thousands of charities.
Who do we support?
We aim to make a significant difference to the lives of children and young people. We give grants to charities working for the direct benefit of economically disadvantaged or socially marginalised young people, the physically disabled, or those suffering from a mental condition or life-threatening or degenerative illness.
We are also proud to support hospices in the UK through the Hospice Movement, as well as working with charities supporting people of all ages with cancer. Charitable Foundation has been keen to support small to medium-sized charities that can benefit substantially from relatively small grants. Hundreds of small charities have benefited as a result.
Since its formation in 1992, the Charitable Foundation has aimed to make a positive and lasting change to the lives of children and young people. Cherishing Children is still our largest focus area, although today our work stretches across three main themes:
- Cherishing Children
- Combating Cancer
- Supporting Hospices
Every year hundreds of smaller one-off grants are made, helping hundreds of charities in the UK and abroad. We also make significant multi-year grants to some charities, covering salaries or the cost of a specific project in order to give the charity greater stability.
As part of our focus on young people, we also launched the national Sport for Good programme in 2012. The programme harnesses the power of sport to reach into the lives of young people in areas of high depravation or strategic need. You can find out more about the programme here.
Approximately 80% of the money raised goes to supporting UK charities, with the remaining 20% being allocated to charities overseas, particularly those helping children and young people to escape poverty, malnutrition and neglect.
