Large Grants Masterclass – 19th April 2018 at 2pm


The Large Grants masterclass is aimed at organisations who are planning to start to apply for bids over £10 000.

The workshop is going to be delivered by

Mike Hobbs – Highly experienced Bid and Tender writer with a sustained record of achievement in developing funding strategies for a range of public and private sector organisations across the North West. Focused primarily on developing income generation strategies at opportunities presented by Big Lottery, Local Authority, European Grants, the Arts Council as well as other public funding; considerable tender writing experience for publicly funded contracts via the online funding portal The Chest; worked strategically to create additional income streams aimed at achieving sustainable growth. Considerable experience of project implementation, management, audit and post-completion work. Have worked for several years as a contractor for the Wirral Chamber of Commerce business support programme to assist SMEs and social enterprises to develop and grow.

Phil Taylor: worked in local government for over 30 years (1975 – 2009) the highpoint being as a senior manager in Liverpool’s Capital of Culture delivery team. Has led on many successful projects and teams in this time and have a deep understanding of the dynamics of public sector and Third Sector processes, politics and services.

Highly experienced in income generation; group facilitation, strategic planning, financial management (with responsibility for budgets in excess of £4m); performance coaching, and supporting business, community and personal development from a strengths-based perspective. I have supported numerous business start-ups and have a successful track record in bid writing and funding applications.

Most recently been working on a £12.5 million community-led project in Anfield in terms of governance; business planning; planning consents; liaison with local authority and legal teams, and fundraising.
