As part of the aspiration of Connect Us, we look to link in with as many existing community groups and activities in order for us to be best placed to know and understand what is available in the community. We endeavour to actively support existing groups to grow and reach out further if this is the ambition.
We are working with a large population of the Wirral currently and working to support all to move forward, improve their health and wellbeing, increase their social connections and feel part of their communities.
We are mindful of the challenges the festive season can bring to many of the individuals and families who are known to us. Therefore, are thinking forward about the best ways we can ensure this is as positive as it can be for some of our most disconnected vulnerable community members.
Each year many groups, organisations and services strive to alleviate some of the hardship that can be faced. There have historically been so many fantastic events and initiatives to brighten up Christmas, bring community Christmas spirit and fill possible gaps in provision over this time.
Connect Us independently does not provide such provisions but wanted to extend an invite to all groups who would want to come together to discuss how we can best coordinate and map what is on offer during this time, so we can ensure this information is readily accessible and shared as far and wide to reduce the chances of people slipping through the net. It may also serve as an opportunity to see how groups can come together to share ideas, pool resources and look at any gaps there may be and what potentially can be done around this.
Connect Us is supporting NEO café to promote their offer of providing 3000 hampers for families over Christmas 2017, this is just one example of what is planned. If there are any people known to your group/organisation they can be simply be put forward to receive one of these.
If you or a representative from your group would like to join in some initial discussions around a more Connected Wirral Christmas we are holding a meeting to get the ball rolling!
Please share with any community groups or individuals that may want to share their plans for and network with other groups.
Join us on Tuesday 3rd October 2017 @ 10 am
